We are looking for an Engineer, Water Resources to join our team.

The main role of the Water Resources Engineer is to conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modelling works, focusing on water balance projects in Queensland and potentially other regions in Australia and New Zealand.

What will you do?

We know the work we do is vital in assisting Aurecon's business globally. Here are the key things you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’.

  • Perform statistical analysis of climate data such as rainfall, evaporation and streamflow
  • Calibrate rainfall-runoff models of various waterways using the Australian Water Balance Model (AWBM)
  • Develop, calibrate and simulate water balance models to analyze the inflows, outflows and storage of water for various projects, including mining and water projects
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic (1D/2D) modelling to assess flooding on various developments, including road, rail, land development, and mining projects, across Queensland
  • Prepare technical reports and other documentation relevant to project submission
  • Collaborate with team members in providing technical solutions and/or innovations to water balance and flooding projects
  • Actively engage in knowledge sharing initiatives

You will also need the following capabilities:

Qualifications

  • BS Civil Engineering, BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in hydrology and hydraulics (water balance modelling, flood modelling)
  • Experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tools such as HECHMS, RORB, HECRAS and TUFLOW
  • Knowledgeable in GIS tools such as QGIS and ArcGIS
  • Knowledge in water balance modelling tools such as GoldSIM and RRL is an advantage
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
