Reporting to the Reliability Coordinator, you will be responsible for driving cost optimization, digital transformation, and product/process innovation across site by identifying improvement opportunities, leading innovation projects and integrating advanced technologies to enhance equipment reliability, operational efficiency and safety while ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and sustainable mining practices. This role also supervises Maintenance Dispatch Analysts, oversees real-time monitoring of the Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) fleet and works to maximize equipment availability, reduce downtime and support production.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following
Identifying bad actors and repetitive failures and developing engineering solutions to mitigate them.
Developing and reviewing asset maintenance strategies through RCM, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Preventive Maintenance Optimization (PMO) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Collecting and analyzing data - Power BI, SQL, Smart Fleet, Vision Link.
Creating Power BI reports to track and monitor equipment KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, Availability, Work order compliance, maintenance cost etc.).
Identify and scope potential projects for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Lead engineering improvement projects and new product or process introduction initiatives.
Conduct cost analysis and value engineering for new product or process implementations.
Analyze and interpret large datasets to identify optimization opportunities.
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, Process Flow Diagram and Control Plans in collaboration with Operations and Quality teams.
Provide technical guidance on fleet monitoring, maintenance coordination and dispatch system use.
Oversee real-time monitoring of equipment status using fleet management systems.
Ensure accurate equipment status coding and reporting within dispatch platforms.
Ensure analysts provide real-time operational support during equipment failures.
Provide updates on equipment status and expected return-to-service times
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 2 years experience in the mining environment or similar.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite and Power BI.
Understanding of reliability concepts such as RCM, FMEA and defect elimination.
Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP, Pronto, or similar).
Member of Engineering Institution of Zambia.
Holder of a valid Zambian driver’s license; will be an added advantage.
