Purpose

Entergy Power Through is an energy resilience service that offers sustainable backup generation solutions to commercial and industrial customers at a discounted rate. The discount is created by offering generator power to the grid during peak demand times. We partner with external Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partners, manufacturers, and internal teams to create a unique offering for our customers.

The Engineer, Sr. (Tech Solutions) serves as a senior technical lead supporting the development of Power Through microgrid and distributed generation solutions for commercial and industrial customers. This position is highly customer‑facing and is responsible for developing technical scope, advancing system design, conducting engineering reviews, and providing expert guidance throughout the proposal and project development process.
The role focuses on real‑world constraints—including cost, reliability, and schedule—and requires deep expertise in low‑ and medium‑voltage power systems, distributed energy resources (DER), and generator-based backup power applications.

The Engineer, Sr. (Tech Solutions) serves as a technical lead in developing Power Through solutions for customer-facing proposals, technical scope, and customer engagement for large/complex applications. This role focuses on microgrid and distributed generation systems, designing under real-world constraints of cost, reliability, and schedule.

This is a highly applied, customer-facing role for engineers with a strong foundation in electrical power systems. The Applications Engineers will lead technical discussions, conduct site visits, and evaluate single-line diagrams and system layouts, while clearly communicating complex concepts through structured documentation and analysis. This position will work closely with the Power Through Sales & Project Management teams, Power Delivery and EPC contract partners.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead applications engineering efforts for complex customer proposals, including developing system architecture, equipment sizing, technical scope, and solution strategy.
  • Evaluate and value‑engineer electrical system designs, including single‑line diagrams, layouts, interconnection approaches, and medium/low‑voltage configurations.
  • Perform advanced power system evaluations (load, capacity, reliability) and apply modeling tools to support design decisions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, EPC partners, R&D, product teams, Power Delivery, and the Power Through Sales & Project Management teams.
  • Prepare high-quality technical content for proposals—drawings, narratives, system analyses, and supporting documentation.
  • Assess design tradeoffs across cost, performance, constructability, reliability, and schedule.
  • Lead and participate in site visits and customer engagements to validate design assumptions and gather critical technical details.
  • Conduct senior-level technical peer reviews and ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality of engineering deliverables across the Power Through portfolio.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

  • Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong foundation in low and medium voltage power systems, including generation.
  • Experience developing and interpreting electrical diagrams, including single-line diagrams and system layouts.
  • Ability to think at the system level and translate requirements into practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and manage competing priorities.

Physical requirements and working conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 20 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone/computer.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Engineer, Sr or Sr Lead (Tech Solutions).: 6+ years of applicable and progressive experience

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • 6+ years of experience in power systems, distributed generation, microgrids, or related fields.
  • Experience with power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, or reliability analysis.
  • Familiarity with power system modeling tools
  • Experience with electrical equipment design and layout, including switchgear and interconnection systems.
  • Understanding of protection schemes, relaying concepts, and system coordination.
  • Experience supporting technical proposals, bids, or customer-facing engineering efforts.
  • Familiarity with RFP processes and working within defined commercial and technical constraints.
  • Exposure to utility interconnection, distributed energy resources (DER), or grid services.
  • Strong foundation in low and medium voltage power systems, including generation.
  • Experience developing and interpreting electrical diagrams, including single-line diagrams and system layouts.
  • Ability to think at the system level and translate requirements into practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and manage competing priorities.
