The Structural Repair Engineer develops structural repair instructions and conducts substantiation analyses to support the certification, safety, and continued airworthiness of Textron Aviation’s jet and propeller aircraft. This role ensures all data meets FAA requirements, internal engineering standards, and program timelines while providing technical support to service centers, customers, and cross‑functional engineering teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Repair Design
·Develop structural repair instructions, installation procedures, and engineering drawings, including all required parts and configurations.
·Prepare approved repair documentation that enables return‑to‑service for damaged aircraft across all Textron Aviation models.
·Manage multiple repair requests concurrently while meeting schedule expectations.
·Collaborate with Customers, Customer Service, and Service Centers to support troubleshooting, scheduled maintenance, AOG events, and field repairs.
·Provide engineering recommendations for minor repairs and field dispositions.
·Support aircraft recovery and ferry flight operations, including development of temporary repairs.
Structural Analysis
·Review damage assessments, engineering drawings, service history, and certification data to determine structural requirements for repair solutions.
·Perform structural analyses, including evaluation of load paths, strength, durability, and compliance with design criteria and certification requirements.
·Utilize CATIA, finite‑element analysis tools, and classical engineering methods to evaluate complex structural configurations.
·Coordinate with cross‑discipline engineering teams and business units to resolve model‑specific structural issues and support fleetwide integrity.
·Develop and support structural test programs to validate repair data and analytical methods.
Certification and Compliance
·Ensure that repairs comply with applicable FAA regulations and Textron Aviation engineering standards.
·Prepare structural reports with compliance documentation to support FAA and ODA approval.
·Coordinate with ODA Unit Members, DERs, and FAA representatives to demonstrate regulatory compliance.
·Develop and review service documentation to support maintenance personnel and operators with accurate, accessible technical information
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
·A bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another related engineering field is required
