
Engineer, Staff

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, VA
This position will provide comprehensive test engineering expertise across the Potomac River Test Range (PRTR). This role leads engineering planning, test design, data acquisition strategy, analysis activities, and the development of new test methodologies in direct support of NSWCDD's E40 Division. The Engineer, Staff serves as a technical mentor and integrator across test engineering, range operations, and data acquisition functional areas, and is a recognized contributor to NSWCDD's test and evaluation (T&E) mission.
This position is responsible for:
Desired Experience:
• Fifteen (15) years of experience dealing with the T&E of weapon systems components, subsystems, and systems, including a demonstrated track record of successful T&E programs and successful collaboration on T&E teams
• Expertise in developing and implementing comprehensive T&E strategies
• Strong understanding of military standards and regulations related to T&E (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461)
• Demonstrated training and mentoring skills, with the ability to effectively transfer knowledge and develop technical expertise in others; commitment to objective assessment and continuous improvement
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex test data and identify areas for improvement
• Demonstrated communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to effectively work within T&E teams
• Ability to adapt to evolving requirements and priorities in a fast-paced T&E environment
• Desired Qualifications:
• Significant experience working on highly complex and critical Department of Defense (DoD) related (any Service Branch) Test and Evaluation projects
• Active participation in relevant industry standards committees related to T&E
• Specific experience in military T&E methodologies, Test Planning, and Instrumentation planning
• Experience with the development and implementation of new approaches to executing a T&E mission
• Experience creating solutions when gaps in T&E arise
Education/Certifications:
· BS in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline required. MS degree strongly desired.
· Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Test Engineer) desired. All applicable NSWCDD site certifications and training must be obtained and maintained during performance.
· Active SECRET security clearance, eligible for TS/SCI
Physical & Travel Requirements:
· Must be able to work in a dynamic test range environment. Some work may be conducted in or near areas with explosive materials, high noise, high voltage, heavy equipment, and hazardous chemicals. Must be capable of wearing appropriate PPE as required by duty assignment. Ability to travel CONUS with as little as 24-hour notice. Occasional OCONUS travel may be required.
