Job Description

 
 
 Responsible for maintenance, engineering, condition monitoring and managing projects to enhance equipment safety and reliability. Our plant requires an engineer who has experience with large pumps, steam turbines and compressors. Knowledge of vibration analysis for rotating equipment and predictive maintenance and the ability to guide teams through failure analysis is required. This role will provide technical support to Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, Inspection, Process and Project and contracting personnel regarding operation, maintenance and troubleshooting for long-term reliability improvement and the selection of rotating equipment.  
 
  Responsibilities 
  
  • Provide technical support to Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Inspection, Process and Project personnel regarding selection, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and long-term reliability of rotating equipment.  
  • Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities and provide technical support for major capital projects.  
  • Conduct performance analysis of rotating equipment to identify performance & operating deviations to provide a resolution on developing deficiencies.    
  • Lead continuous improvement of reliability of rotating equipment through the development and application of effective reliability strategies such  as risk-based maintenance strategies, identification & assessment of risks, root cause and bad actor analysis and spare parts reviews.    
  • Partner with vendors to resolve technical problems and develop new solutions.    
  • Develop the rotating equipment engineering repair scope for all outages, as well as major and turnaround maintenance events.  
  • Serve as a member of cross-functional team to resolve equipment problems, investigate incidents, and improve Maintenance.    
  • Identifies and assesses new technologies related to rotating equipment and auxiliary systems.    
  • Works towards continuous improvement of the reliability of rotating equipment through the development and application of effective reliability strategies, the identification of risks, root cause analysis and team-based problem solving using and implementing industry best practices and standards. Partner with vendors to resolve equipment technical problems.  
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.  
  • Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.  
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.  
  • Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.  
  • Develop and maintain Maintenance improvement/KPI S for critical assets.    
  • Assist in OR lead root cause failure analysis on critical equipment failures.  
  • Perform and document component failure analysis as required.  
  • Review project design packages.      
  • Lead in the development and monitoring of the preventative maintenance program for rotating equipment.    
  • Develop, review, and maintain equipment specifications as related to purchasing, installation, operation, and maintenance/repairs.      
  • Develop and implement alterations and revisions to equipment to improve business performance of the operating units.  
  • Present a professional image at all times to clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation for the company.  
  • Must be self-motivated and possess skills to identify and solve unusual problems.  
  • Must be capable of making decisions and recommendations with minimal supervision.  
  • Must be willing to spend time in the field as required.  
  • Ability to use computers and computer systems utilizing standard software (ie; Microsoft Suite, AutoCad)  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
Qualifications 
 
Education, Experience, and/or Training 
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering required.  
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience working in the chemical or petrochemical industry required.  
  • Experience must be as plant owners’ employee in a continuous process industry, preferably chemicals or oil refining.

  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. occasionally.  
  • Ability to sit for prolonged amounts of time required.  
  • Ability to effectively communicate through various means required.  
Work Schedule 
  • Monday – Friday between 7:00am – 5:00pm, working the 9/80 schedule  
  • May work additional hours and days, including weekends and holidays as required.  
Travel 
  • Less than 10% of the time.
