WSP is seeking a talented and motivated Drainage Engineer to join our GCC Highways & Drainage Team The team delivers detailed highway and drainage designs for a wide range of adoptable and private infrastructure projects across international markets.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex drainage and water infrastructure projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and global stakeholders to deliver innovative, sustainable, and technically excellent solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver drainage and water infrastructure designs for highways, urban developments, and civil engineering projects.
Undertake the design of:
Highway drainage systems
Stormwater networks
Wastewater and sewerage systems
Water distribution networks
Sustainable drainage systems (SuDS)
Perform hydraulic and hydrological analyses to assess flow characteristics, identify flooding risks, and develop effective mitigation measures.
Conduct drainage studies, flood risk assessments, and water surface profile modelling.
Design and size detention and retention facilities, attenuation systems, and pumping stations.
Prepare engineering calculations, design reports, technical specifications, and quantity estimates.
Develop detailed engineering drawings and models using Civil 3D and other relevant design software.
Carry out drainage modelling and validate designs using industry-standard software.
Analyse drainage and floodplain systems to identify erosion control and flood prevention solutions.
Support the preparation of concept, preliminary, and detailed design packages.
Identify and evaluate design alternatives, recommending the most effective technical solutions.
Collaborate closely with international project teams, attending meetings and presenting technical solutions to stakeholders.
Assist in the preparation of proposals, tender documents, and technical submissions.
Ensure all deliverables meet WSP quality standards through rigorous technical reviews and quality checks.
Support project planning by contributing to programme schedules, resource requirements, and project budgets.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
Master's Degree in Hydraulics, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in drainage and water infrastructure design.
Proven experience in the design of:
Highway drainage systems
Stormwater networks
Sewerage and wastewater networks
Water distribution systems
Experience in drainage modelling, hydraulic calculations, and flood risk assessment.
Strong understanding of detention/retention systems, SuDS, and flood mitigation strategies.
Experience working on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in Civil 3D and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with drainage and hydraulic modelling software such as MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, InfoWorks ICM, SWMM, or equivalent would be advantageous.
Knowledge of GIS applications is desirable.
Experience delivering international projects, particularly UK, Australia, Middle East, or North American projects, would be an advantage.

Ability to work effectively within global teams in a collaborative environment.
