Engineer - Product Development

Based at Silueta, Biyagama

The Engineer Product Development is responsible for designing, developing, and validating innovative products that meet customer requirements while ensuring manufacturability, quality, profitability, and a smooth transition into production. The role involves technical development, stakeholder coordination, product testing, process optimization, and continuous improvement throughout the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead product development activities from concept to production while adhering to established development processes.

• Develop accurate samples, prototypes, and product specifications to meet customer and business requirements.

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Quality, Production, and Technical teams to ensure timely project execution.

• Prepare and manage Time & Action plans to achieve project milestones and delivery timelines.

• Conduct product trials, validations, pilot runs, and testing activities to ensure product performance and quality standards are met.

• Develop and communicate technical specifications, BOM requirements, and product documentation to support production processes.

• Analyze and evaluate new materials, technologies, and product concepts to support innovation initiatives.

• Identify and resolve technical issues during product development and recommend effective solutions.

• Support capacity planning, resource utilization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Provide technical guidance and training to team members and operational teams as required.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Textile & Clothing Engineering, Production Engineering, or Product Design Engineering.

• Strong understanding of product development processes, manufacturing principles, and technical specifications.

• Project management and planning capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

• Knowledge of product testing, validation, quality standards, and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and meet challenging deadlines.

• Innovation mindset with the capability to evaluate and implement new materials, technologies, and product concepts.
