About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Optical R&D Intern to join our Optical Engineering team. You will support the development, testing, and optimization of optical communication components and systems, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the design, simulation, and testing of optical components (e.g., lenses, fibers, connectors, WDM modules, etc.).
  2. Support optical system experiments, including setup, alignment, and data collection.
  3. Participate in optical performance testing and analysis (e.g., insertion loss, return loss, optical power, wavelength performance).
  4. Help document test results, prepare technical reports, and contribute to design reviews.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, firmware) to support product development.
  6. Maintain lab equipment and ensure proper usage and calibration where required.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Optics, Photonics, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related fields
  2. Basic understanding of optical principles (e.g., geometrical optics, fiber optics, wave optics).
  3. Familiarity with optical testing equipment (e.g., optical power meter, oscilloscope, OSA) is a plus.
  4. Experience with optical simulation tools (e.g., Zemax, LightTools, or equivalent) is preferred.
  5. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  6. Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  7. Proficiency in English reading/writing for technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to optical communication systems (e.g., DWDM/WDM, transceivers, modules).
  • Basic programming skills (Python, MATLAB, or similar) for data analysis.
  • Internship or project experience in optics/photonics is a plus.
