JOB TITLE
Engineer - Process Design
The Process Design Engineer is responsible for designing, improving, and managing processes to enhance operational efficiency, patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, and cost effectiveness. This role supports company initiatives by integrating process engineering principles with project management methodologies to deliver optimized workflows across various departments including, but not limited to, clinical, administrative, and operational environments. The position partners closely with project teams, key stakeholders, and leadership to lead the redesign and implementation of scalable and sustainable process improvements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Design and optimize processes and workflows to improve management services, patient care delivery, throughput, and operational efficiency across the organization
• Analyze current-state processes and develop future-state workflows aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements
• Lead & facilitate multidisciplinary working sessions to drive effective and sustainable process improvement using LEAN and Six Sigma techniques
• Develop process maps, flow diagrams, and documentation to support healthcare operations and project execution
• Integrate process design with project management plans, timelines, and deliverables
• Collaborate with various functional departments, including but not limited to, clinical, operational, IT, and project management, etc. teams to implement process improvements
• Support project planning, execution, and monitoring for healthcare initiatives, including facility expansions, system implementations, or service line improvements
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission)
• Conduct data analysis to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
• Participate in risk assessments and mitigation planning related to patient safety, quality, and operational risks
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and support training for clinical and administrative staff
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
• Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Healthcare Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• 5-8 years of experience in process design, healthcare operations, or project management
• Experience leading large-scale transformation or healthcare process improvement projects
• Experience with lean daily management and Kaizen activities
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
• Knowledge of healthcare systems, workflows, and regulatory requirements
• Proficiency in process mapping, workflow design, and data analysis
• Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
• Proficiency in process design tools and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Comfort presenting projects and summaries to C suite
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in Healthcare Management, or Business Administration
• Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
• Project Management (PMP)
• Experience working in hospital, clinical, or healthcare systems environments
• Knowledge of healthcare performance metrics and quality improvement standards
