Job Description

Contract Period: Permanent / 2-Year Contract

Work Location: Tai Po

We are looking for an energetic and highly motivated professional to join Operational Planning Branch of System Operation Department. Reporting to senior engineer, the appointee will assist in the following duties:

  • Perform short- and medium-term demand forecast
  • Support the data analytics projects relating to various digital and innovative initiatives of different operation regimes of power systems
  • Support the design and on-going administration of the data analytics model developed
  • Coordinate generation and interconnection outage activities to optimise the utilisation of the Company’s generation resources
  • Monitor the interconnection related activities and conduct system studies to identify potential risks, and devise corrective measures to protect the integrity of the CLP system
  • Analyse the causes of faults or disturbances on generation and transmission systems and recommend remedial measures to ensure the security standards of the system are met
  • Monitor generation, transmission and interconnected systems performance, capture operational and fault statistics, analyse operational data, consolidate into useful operational information, and disseminate to relevant departments

Requirements:

  • A recognized university degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • A higher degree in Electrical Engineering with specialty in power system studies will be an advantage
  • At least 3 years' relevant experience in electricity supply industry. Relevant experience in data analysis, management and visualization will be an added advantage
  • Excellent skills in computer programming (e.g. Python, VBA, etc.)
  • A good command of artificial intelligence tools will be an advantage
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different levels, both internally and externally. Proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage
  • Mindful and possess good safety awareness
  • Able to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadline

Candidates with less qualification and/or experience but demonstrate good potential for further development will be considered for a position at lower grade.
