Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs electrical engineering tasks and services with guidance of a licensed engineer which includes the following:
  2. *Performs site investigations and feasibility studies, and provides technical consultation and budget estimates in response to requests for alteration, new construction, and energy management of electrical power and lighting systems.
  3. * Performs load and lighting calculations and applies technical design skills, including drafting, to create working drawings & specifications for power and lighting systems.
  4. Performs engineering service in the implementation of energy conservation measures. Performs energy audits of building system and operations and provides technical assistance in evaluation energy conservation measures.
  5. * Coordinates activities required to insure the smooth flow of electrical power and lighting systems projects . Assists with review of workorders, project designs and other disciplines
  6. *Reviews system designs, specifications and material submittals of consultants and contractors for compliance with University standards.
  7. *Provides technical assistance to trades personnel and other University staff for troubleshooting work, minor renovation projects and preventative maintenance program development.
  8. *Performs periodic on-site inspection of electrical and related work to ensure conformance to the design and proper workmanship.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 3 year(s) of Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 1 year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for Electrical Engineering; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  1. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of Electrical Engineering demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
  2. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with Electrical Engineering.
  3. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of Electrical Engineering.
  4. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  5. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  6. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing and spreadsheet software.
  7. Ability to learn and utilize computer aided design (CAD).
