Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY  Mechanical or Electrical Engineer Planner is an entry-level position within project 
management, primarily responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of project 
schedules. This includes activity breakdown, duration estimations, and critical path analysis, 
under the guidance of senior planning engineers, by utilizing scheduling software like 
Primavera P6 to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget; key tasks include data 
collection, schedule updates, progress monitoring, and reporting on project status to 
stakeholders. They ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and with high 
quality standards. They coordinate and oversee the planning, scheduling, monitoring, and 
controlling of various activities and resources involved in a project.  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
Primary duties and responsibilities (but are not limited to)  Schedule Development: 
• Assist in creating detailed project schedules by breaking down project activities into 
manageable tasks, defining durations, and establishing logical dependencies.  
• Input data into scheduling software (Primavera P6) to generate project timelines. 
• Review and update project schedules based on design changes, field conditions, and other 
project updates.  
o The contractor shall perform the following tasks:  a. Independent Cost Analyses.   b.  Program Office Estimates (POEs).   c.  Cost Analysis Requirement Description (CARD). 
 March 2025   d.  Analysis of Alternatives (AoA).  e.  Perform evaluations to include:   
 (1) Cost/acquisition teams. 
  
 (2) Source Selection Evaluation Boards.  Progress Monitoring: 
• Regularly monitor project progress against the schedule by collecting field data on activity 
completion and identifying potential delays.  
• Analyze progress reports and identify areas where adjustments are needed. 
• Update the project schedule to reflect actual progress and communicate changes to 
relevant stakeholders.   Data Analysis and Reporting: 
• Generate reports on project status, including critical path analysis, resource utilization, and 
potential risks.  
• Analyze project data to identify trends and potential issues impacting project timelines. 
• Prepare visual presentations to effectively communicate project progress to project team 
members and clients.   Collaboration: 
• Work closely with other project team members including engineers, contractors, and 
project managers to gather information and ensure schedule accuracy.  
• Attend project meetings to discuss progress, identify issues, and propose solutions.  Technical Skills: 
• Proficiency in scheduling software Microsoft Project 
• Understanding of project management principles and methodologies 
• Basic knowledge of maintenance practices and project documentation  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure 
• Basic understanding of project planning concepts and scheduling software
