We’re looking for an Engineer – OT Communications to join our OT Communications team, working across our project portfolio to design, deliver and continuously improve critical communications networks that underpin Victoria’s energy system.

You’ll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, applying your engineering expertise to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective and future‑ready solutions across transmission and distribution environments.

This is a hands‑on technical role where your work will directly support safe, reliable and secure network operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver scopes, estimates, designs, specifications and architectures across OT communications projects
  • Apply engineering judgement to solve complex design challenges and optimise outcomes
  • Provide specialist expertise across OT communications networks, Remote SCADA and associated systems, including cyber security considerations
  • Develop and maintain network architectures, topologies, configuration databases and design documentation
  • Produce installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance documentation
  • Support service availability, disaster recovery planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislation, standards, codes and AusNet policies
  • Contribute to product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with vendors, digital architecture and business needs
  • Share insights, lessons learned and innovations to strengthen team capability and outcomes

What you’ll bring

You’re a curious, collaborative engineer who enjoys simplifying complexity and delivering practical outcomes. You’ll also bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communications Engineering
  • Experience in electrical engineering, project delivery and/or design, ideally within utilities or critical infrastructure
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across diverse teams and partners
  • A solid understanding of the regulatory environment in which AusNet operates
  • A disciplined approach to documentation, knowledge management and engineering standards
  • A willingness to broaden your skills across communications technologies and bearers

Additional requirements

  • Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to travel to other AusNet sites as required
  • Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) background check
