Engineer, Ops Field Support
Reports to: Senior Manager - Field Engineering

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $90,000-$109,500
Main Purpose of Job:
This individual willbe responsible forsupporting the operations of Avangrid’s Wind Turbine fleetprimarilythroughfailure investigationand troubleshooting.
Main Responsibilities
Serve astechnicalliaisonin the field to gather data, samples, and observations, in support failure investigations of wind turbine components (such as gearboxes, blades, generators, converters, and transformers) and tofacilitateresolution of technical issues.
Provide technical support during investigations into failures and evaluation of operational and performance issues.
Support the development of technical documentation such as service bulletins and workinstructions andcarry out procedures in the field.
Support conference calls with suppliers to ensuretheir compliancewith contractual obligations.
Support meetings and calls with original equipment manufacturers and service providers to ensure quality and compliance with contractual obligations.
Review supplier’s root cause failure analysis and corrective action documentation.
Support internal efforts to investigate failures and to carry out testing and measurement to evaluate potential corrective actions
Support product improvement programs designed to increase wind turbine performance and/or reduce operational costs.
Support efforts to develop andqualifysecond and third-tier suppliers and parts.
Visit generating plants and suppliers asrequiredto investigate issues first-hand.
Review and critique OEM maintenance practices with theobjectiveensuring OEM practices are sufficient to successfullymaintainequipment and propose modifications to procedures where necessary.
Required Qualifications
Degree in engineering, math, physics, or other technical discipline or equivalent experience
Technical Background anddemonstrated5years’experience in wind turbine engineering or operations.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Understanding of technical due diligence.
Ability to climb100-meter-tallsteel towers and to occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Flexibility totravel around the US and overseas; approximately20% travelrequired
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge of various Wind Turbine platformsprimarily withGEandSuzlon
Innovative and analytical way of thinking, withdemonstratedacumen for troubleshooting
Demonstrated knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems and competency with electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Competency with use of electrical and mechanical tools
Proficiencyutilizingword processing, spreadsheets, email, and other office programs.
