The role is intended for an engineer with early professional experience who will contribute to core design and nuclear methods work while continuing to build technical depth in reactor physics, neutronics, and thermal-hydraulics applications.

This position is within the Methods, Analysis, and Design team within the Fuels and Digital Engineering Organization. This team is responsible for the application of existing and new methodologies to advance fuel design initiatives, whether they be for BWRs or not. This role will include the usage of nuclear engineering software but also the development of new methodologies and software, if it makes sense.

  • Contribute to the development, documentation, and improvement of design application procedures.
  • Assist in evaluating and applying new methodologies for reactor design applications.
  • Perform engineering analyses in support of core design and fuel design activities.
  • Work with experienced engineers to support the use, maintenance, and documentation of nuclear analysis codes and methods.
  • Prepare and present technical data, calculations, and results to internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and users of the methods through support, documentation, and training.
  • Ensure work is performed with high quality and in accordance with customer requirements, business quality standards, and applicable regulatory expectations.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, integrity, transparency, accountability, and a willingness to learn.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate activities with other team members on engineering and technical issues.
  • Support project planning, execution, and status reporting as needed.
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality, continuous improvement, and meeting commitments.
  • Exhibit strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a positive, collaborative, and adaptable attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Continue developing effective oral and written communication skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in nuclear engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 2 years' experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • core design
    • neutronics analysis
    • thermal-hydraulics analysis
    • reactor design methods
  • 2 years' experience with at least one of the following types of analysis codes or tools:
    • Neutronics codes such as MCNP, LANCR, PANAC, OpenMC
    • Thermal-hydraulics and/or systems analysis codes such as ISCOR, the COBRA family, TRACG
