Engineer – Network Management
We’re seeking an experienced Engineer – Network Management to join our Transport team in Rotorua. This is a key role supporting road network, corridor and asset management activities for local and regional authority clients, with a strong focus on delivering practical, cost‑effective outcomes.
You’ll work across asset management, corridor operations, maintenance contracts and project delivery, applying your engineering expertise while building trusted client relationships and leading projects from planning through to completion. You’ll play a pivotal role in managing road network and corridor activities, overseeing maintenance contracts, supporting asset management programmes and contributing to the successful delivery of transport projects locally and regionally.
Key Responsibilities
Managing road network and corridor management activities for assigned contract areas
Overseeing corridor maintenance contracts, including inspections, customer service requests and operational delivery
Preparing and administering contracts and tenders in line with NZS 3910 and client requirements
Monitoring contractor performance, processing claims and verifying as‑built and RAMM/AWM data
Supporting and delivering asset management services and innovative, value‑focused solutions
Applying strong working knowledge of RAMM and asset data management systems
Leading and delivering projects on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards
Acting as Project Manager, including preparing briefs, RFPs, fee estimates and project plans
Building strong relationships with councils, Waka Kotahi, contractors and key stakeholders
Providing technical input across road network management, investigations, audits and reporting
Actively contributing to health, safety and wellbeing outcomes across all activities
About You
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
5+ years’ experience in road network, corridor or asset management
Strong knowledge of contract administration and maintenance contract management
Experience working with RAMM and asset management systems
Proven project management and financial management capability
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex issues clearly
A collaborative, solutions‑focused mindset with a strong client focus
A current clean driver’s licence
