We are seeking a Mining Engineer to deliver reliable, accurate, and sustainable mine planning services to optimise both Mining and Plant operations in alignment with shipping and commercial requirements. This critical role supports the planning team in evaluating scenarios, seizing new opportunities, and responding to changes driven by internal and external factors, all while ensuring consistency with the targets outlined in the Annual Plan.
Supporting our Weipa operations and reporting to the Operations Planning Superintendent, whilst working closely with the Operations Planning team, you will be responsible for:
Brisbane
Located on Charlotte Street in the heart of Brisbane’s city, our modern, multi-floor office is thoughtfully designed for connection and collaboration, no matter where our people are located around the world. The space includes technology-enabled work and meeting areas, shared social lounges, and The Pit, our auditorium and central place for events and gatherings. On-site amenities include a wellness room, parents’ suite, and multi-faith room. Downstairs, just inside the building’s heritage façade, are end-of-journey facilities and an urban laneway with coffee shops and pastry kitchen. Our teams enjoy views of Moreton Bay, Kangaroo Point and the Brisbane River as they work across a range of technical and functional disciplines, supporting operations globally.
Weipa
You will be supporting our Weipa operations in Far North Queensland, which includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, shiploaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals.
Amrun, our newest mine, was completed in 2018 and will extend our Weipa bauxite operations by decades, significantly building on our 55-year history on the Western Cape, and providing jobs and supporting business growth in the region. The mine is located on traditional land. We work closely with the Traditional Owners to implement our agreements, ensuring that the benefits generated from mining support future generations and that important cultural heritage sites are identified and preserved.
