Position Summary
The Engineering Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of Zermatt Resort & Spa facilities. This role oversees building systems, preventative maintenance programs, capital improvement projects, and engineering team operations to ensure a safe environment and an exceptional guest experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Facilities Operations
- Oversee maintenance and repair of guest rooms, public areas, spa, pools, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, and resort infrastructure.
- Ensure all systems function safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standards.
- Maintain resort presentation standards in all areas.
Preventative Maintenance
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules.
- Maintain equipment logs, service records, and asset inventories.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate engineering staff.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and service excellence.
- Provide coaching and performance feedback.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety, and building codes.
- Maintain emergency systems and life-safety equipment.
- Conduct safety training and inspections.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Manage departmental budget and control expenses.
- Coordinate vendor services, contracts, and purchasing.
- Oversee capital projects and renovations.
Energy & Sustainability
- Monitor utility usage and implement efficiency initiatives.
- Support sustainability and conservation programs.
Guest Service Support
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests.
- Partner with departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Support resort events and operational needs.
QualificationsRequired
- 5+ years of facilities or engineering management experience.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and building compliance standards.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred
- Resort or hospitality experience.
- EPA certification or relevant trade licenses.
- CMMS system experience.
- Energy management experience.

Physical Requirements

Work Environment
This position operates in both indoor and outdoor resort environments, including mechanical rooms and guest areas. Exposure to seasonal mountain weather conditions may occur.
