By joining our Engineering Support Branch as an Engineer-In-Training I in Jefferson County, you’ll have the opportunity to perform technical engineering work on projects with a smaller scope to develop practical skills.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and analyzes to recommend acceptance or disapproval of contractors' work.
  • Reviews and analyzes on-site data; recommends review and/or, alteration of design plan.
  • Reviews encroachment permits applications and recommends approvals.
  • Reviews assessments on the impacts of roadway safety and roadway operation.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Civil Engineering.

Additional position information:

This position requires travel throughout eight (8) counties to view design and construction of projects. May experience rough terrain. Spends a great deal of time on a computer. Communicates by email, phone, and sometimes in person.

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Certification as an Engineer-In-Training recognized by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possess and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title will perform duties in an office setting as well as in a field setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
