The Engineer III / Senior Engineer role supports a range of technical assignments across operations, projects, and strategic initiatives. This position is responsible for applying engineering expertise to evaluate, design, and improve systems and processes while ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operations.

This role may be filled at the Engineer III or Senior Engineer level depending on experience, scope of responsibility, and demonstrated capabilities. The position offers the opportunity to work across disciplines and contribute to solutions that advance Williams’ energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities / Expectations

  • Work independently on engineering projects and technical assignments that support operations and project execution, with greater scope and complexity at the Senior Engineer level

  • Apply technical expertise to evaluate systems, identify issues, and develop solutions that support operational and business needs

  • Apply industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company processes to ensure safe, compliant work

  • Interpret internal and external customer needs, assess requirements, and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives

  • Collaborate across functions to support project delivery, compliance, and continuous improvement

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and information to stakeholders

  • Promote safety, operational excellence, and adherence to processes, procedures, and standards

  • At the Senior Engineer level, provide technical leadership on complex assignments, support large-scale projects, and contribute to strategic decisions

  • At the Senior Engineer level, anticipate business needs, influence outcomes, and guide less experienced engineers as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering technology field with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license

  • Engineer III typically requires at least four years of diverse engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry

  • Senior Engineer typically requires at least eight years of diverse engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles, operational requirements, and applicable regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred

  • Project management experience preferred

  • Experience across multiple engineering disciplines or functional areas preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with a focus on safety and collaboration

  • Ability to analyze technical issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general PC applications

  • Ability to work independently and contribute effectively in a team environment

  • At the Senior Engineer level, advanced technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to influence decisions and outcomes across teams

Day in the Life

In this role, you will lead and support project engineering execution for pipeline, compressor station, and facility projects across the full lifecycle, typically ranging from $1MM to $50MM in capital scope. You will manage engineering deliverables and guide design progression through key milestone phases, including 30%, 60%, and 90% design reviews.

You will coordinate multi-discipline engineering efforts across mechanical, civil, and structural systems, while also overseeing third-party engineering firms to ensure design quality, regulatory compliance, and accountability for deliverables.

Working closely with project managers, you will help execute project plans by aligning delivery strategy, budgets, and resource planning. You will actively identify and mitigate engineering risks, resolve design gaps, and support procurement efforts by developing material requisitions and ensuring equipment aligns with project requirements.

Your role will involve executing engineering design across a range of capital projects—from maintenance-related work to larger-scale asset builds—while applying technical expertise and sound engineering judgment to solve complex challenges and improve outcomes.

Collaboration is critical, and you will work cross-functionally to meet safety, compliance, schedule, cost, and quality objectives throughout the project lifecycle.
