This position is in Triad Asset Design Group. The Asset Design Team designs and oversees the design of Substation Optimization Projects and Large Customer Work. This position requires field visits to review and discuss scope of work with the engineering firms and contractor managers. This position requires working with many teams including Off Site Engineering Firms, Contractor Managers, Project Managers, Project Controls, Asset Management Team, Zone Engineering, R&I Engineers, and Line workers. The position supports storms in both the Triad Area and may be required to travel to other locations within the Duke Energy Systems and off-systems sites.
The Engineer III position is the advanced level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer III position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. An Engineer III is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer III effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressively complex and varied.
The Senior Engineer manages work in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. The Senior Engineer is expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. Employees in the Senior Engineer position are fully competent in the use of concepts and procedures. The Senior Engineer identifies problems, develops solutions and takes action to resolve.
