Job Description

The Industrial Engineer performs analyze current processes and procedures. Implement improvements that maximize productivity, reduce wastefulness, and ensure high quality results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operational Workflow: Analyzes and improves operational workflows with access to confidential productivity, cost, and manpower data.
2. Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of Industrial Technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to maximize performance and achieve organizational goals.
3. Layout Optimization: Analyze and propose production layout strategies that optimize resource utilization, minimize waste, and ensure efficient workflow.
4. Capacity Planning: Conduct capacity planning and analysis to determine the ideal resource allocation, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining optimal efficiency levels.
5. Process Improvement: Perform time-study analysis to identify bottlenecks and develop strategies for process improvement and production optimization.
6. Project Management: Support Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects, including budgeting, planning, and implementation, to enhance manufacturing processes and capabilities.
7. Performance Evaluation: Develop and maintain OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) calculations and analysis to evaluate and improve equipment performance, availability, and quality levels.
8. Continuous Improvement: Participate and may lead initiatives for productivity improvement by identifying areas for enhancement and implementing appropriate strategies and processes.
9. Workstation Optimization: Conduct man-machine calculations and analysis to optimize workstations, labor allocation, and production processes.
10. 5S Implementation: Apply 5S principles to create an organized and efficient work environment.
11. Takt Time Analysis: Conduct takt time analysis and calculations to enhance production planning, ensuring optimal resource allocation and meeting customer demand.
12. KPI Management: Support key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop action plans accordingly.
13. Layout Design: Lead Layout design to meet and align to lean strategies and Best-in-Class approach.
14. Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.
15. Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the production processes and components, business and other technology including materials.
16. Other duties assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat.
• Works in a fast-paced engineering/manufacturing lab environment.
• Also works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).
• Works under limited supervision.
• Overtime may be necessary in times of increased demand.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong analytical skills to evaluate and interpret data.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Strong leadership skills in implementing productivity changes.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Familiar with Cause & Effect Diagram, 5 Why, & Pareto Principle.
• Understanding of basic Lean methodologies of Flow, Poka Yoke, & Heijunka.
• Troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
• Documentation and organization skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to manage many projects at one time.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of eight (8) years related experience.
• Familiar with ISO quality system.
• Familiar with plant operation system.
• Have good knowledge in 6Sigma, SPC, FMEA, lean manufacturing.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
