Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review the product designs and provide comments to designers, with respect to applicable UL, CSA, IEC, and similar standards for products categories such as UPS, Inverters, IT equipments, Racks, PDUs, Network card and industrial equipments.
  • Manage product compliance activities throughout the product lifecycle, including NPDI, sustaining engineering, engineering changes (ECOs) and certification maintenance.
  • Co-ordinate with local and international labs and certification bodies to get the products certified. Own end-to-end certification projects, including certification planning, scheduling, sample management, execution, and certification release.
  • Assess the drawings, manuals, descriptive reports to ensure the compliance with the standards.
  • Prepare and review assessment report, construction review, test plan, sample requirement, Construction Data Forms (CDF), Risk Assessments, Declaration of Conformity (DoC), Regulatory Labels, and Technical Files and execute the tests through internal as well as external certification body & test labs.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Mechanical, Electrical, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Global Compliance teams to resolve certification issues.
  • Guide internal & external customers regarding the matters of both ordinary and hazardous location product safety certifications.
  • Participate in Engineering changes, conducting the analysis of modifications affecting the certification of those products under change.
  • Maintain existing certifications through alternate component approvals, periodic updates, factory inspections, and certification renewals.

Competencies

  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory management system
  • Knowledge of NPDI processes.
  • Working knowledge of Engineering Change (ECO) process and certification impact assessment.
  • Working experience of safety, EMI/EMC testing and requirements as per the global regulatory requirement
  • Hands-on experience with internal and external safety, EMI/EMC, environmental, and reliability testing.
  • Hands of experience of product safety testing on UPS, Inverters, IT equipments, Racks & PDUs
  • Working experience on UL 1778, IEC 62040-1/-2/-3, IEC 62477-1, IEC 62368-1, FCC Part 15, CISPR 32, IEC 61000 Series, UL 1973, BIS, KC, PSE, SASO, CE/UKCA etc.
  • Knowledge of country specific Directives & Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Compliance including RoHS, REACH, TSCA, SCIP, PFAS, WEEE, PPWR.
  • Knowledge of Dangerous goods transportation requirement IATA, UN 38.3 etc.
  • Working knowledge of UL, CSA, CE/UKCA marking other country specific certification.
  • Knowledge of QMS processes.
  • Individual should demonstrate competency in Customer Focus, Decision Quality, Problem Solving, ​Standing Alone.
  • Experience with PLM/ERP tools (Oracle PD, Teamcenter), Smartsheet, and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronics
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in the certification domain
  • Self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • UPS domain knowledge.
