Microchip's Data Center Solutions (DCS) Business Unit offers industry-leading performance, reliability, and security for Storage Controllers, PCIe Switches, and NVMe solutions. As an Engineer II - Design, you will be a contributing member of our Enterprise Flash Controller design team, working on complex SoC devices that power next-generation data centers and accelerators.

The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in digital design and RTL development, with exposure to SoC design methodologies. You will work closely with senior engineers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to support both current and next-generation products.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of next-generation Data Center Storage products, including enterprise-class NVMe Solid State Drive (SSD) controllers and other PCIe-based products.
  • Work in the product development team through multiple phases of silicon ASIC/SoC development.
  • Implement RTL in SystemVerilog for IP blocks and subsystems involving industry-standard protocols such as PCIe, ONFI, AMBA AXI, DDR4/5 under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Debug and root-cause block-level and subsystem-level design issues found during simulation, verification, and integration.
  • Support block-level and subsystem-level integration into the SoC.
  • Collaborate with verification teams to resolve functional bugs and ensure design quality.
  • Write and maintain design documentation including block-level descriptions and register specifications.
  • Support design and verification activities in pre-silicon development phases to ensure features meet architectural requirements.
  • Stay current on the latest SoC trends and innovations and incorporate them into design flows.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (Master's degree preferred)
  • 2.5+ years of relevant industry experience in ASIC/SoC RTL design and development.
  • Familiarity with PCIe, DDR, or ONFI/Toggle NAND is desired.
  • Understanding of digital design fundamentals including FSMs, pipelining, clock domain crossings, FIFOs, and arbitration logic.
  • Experience with SystemVerilog based RTL development.
  • Exposure to SoC/ASIC design and verification flow.
  • Basic understanding of synthesis, lint, CDC checks, and timing concepts.
  • Good problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork and time management skills, ability to take direction from senior engineers, and the desire to learn and grow in a competitive environment.

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304 - $143,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
