Job Description

The Engineer Senior I, Technology, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards, is responsible for the activities related to assigned programs and projects. This role will have the opportunity to contribute to several innovative projects. And these activities by nature of their complexity and difficulty require the fully competent application of knowledge in engineering analysis, information technology, and digitalization, as well as creative, innovative, and forward-looking solutions.

What You Will Do:

You will support both internal and external clients with application planning, development, testing and maintenance tasks. Particularly as part of the Digital Class framework, it contributes to improving and innovating ABS engineering applications. Understanding of the main programming language C# and the MVVM design pattern is preferred.

  • Identifies and proposes Technology programs and projects in the field of technical expertise to manage. Recommends priorities for projects within Technology.
  • Plans for and budgets programs and projects as assigned by management.
  • Serves as a leader or member of technical project teams. Responsible for carrying out assigned duties to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Ensures high-quality service delivery and maintains good relations with customers and coworkers.
  • Stays actively informed concerning technical, business, and management developments affecting ABS and its customers and communicates this information promptly to management.
  • Actively promotes the services and capabilities of ABS throughout the technical and business community.
  • Writes and presents technical papers and reports concerning expertise and work performed.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and advice on areas of technical expertise to Technology and Engineering staff.
  • Ensures that all ABS Quality System requirements regarding technical work within assigned areas of responsibility are fulfilled.
  • Identifies opportunities and proposes solutions to improve Engineering Applications. You can suggest new approaches to problems you face and make recommendations for changes in methods, procedures, or designs.
  • Supports Engineering Application users. You can work with your team members to identify and resolve issues with technical expertise.
  • Collects user feedback and client needs tracks technologies, and solutions for continuous improvement of Engineering Applications. Identifying industry trends and you can propose technology development and new features.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Ship Engineering, Marine Engineering or higher.
  • Ten (10) years of relevant engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, university, or classification society preferred.
  • English proficiency at the level of business conversation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read engineering plans and understand shipbuilding practices and vessel Commands in English.
  • Knowledge of department-related technical disciplines.
  • Knowledge of applicable Rules and regulations and the impact of Rule applications and interpretations.
  • Knowledge of company business policies and procedures.
  • The human relations skills necessary to maintain positive relationships with clients and peers.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and implement logical solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to undertake short- and long-term planning to provide for efficient and effective scheduling of work assignments.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.

It Would Be Nice If You Had

  • Proficiency in C# programming language (C# is preferred, Available for non-C# as well).
