Engineer I, Packaged Equipment

The Engineer I, Packaged Equipment is responsible for developing mechanical system design packages for gas turbine and steam turbine auxiliary equipment. This role supports power projects across the Americas by coordinating with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure equipment packages comply with applicable codes, contractual requirements, quality standards, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical system design packages based on P&IDs, specifications, and contractual requirements
  • Prepare engineering calculations to ensure proper sizing and selection of packaged equipment
  • Create inquiry and purchase specifications for mechanical and auxiliary equipment
  • Evaluate, technically qualify, and recommend vendors
  • Review vendor drawings, data, and designs for code, contract, and internal compliance
  • Coordinate equipment arrangement and foundation interface requirements
  • Participate in testing activities and analyze test results
  • Develop and maintain standard drawings, specifications, and design improvements
  • Manage engineering schedules and deliverables
  • Communicate regularly with vendors to ensure technical and schedule alignment
  • Respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel
  • Incorporate design requirements from the parent company and customer contracts
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, cost, and resource efficiency
  • Provide regular project status updates to management
  • Travel to customer sites, vendor locations, or construction sites as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Zero (0) to three (3) years of relevant engineering experience
  • Exposure to rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, fans), static equipment (vessels, heat exchangers), or packaged systems preferred
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems including piping, instrumentation, electrical, and equipment integration
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and codes in English
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Acrobat
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to travel approximately 5%–20%
  • Ability to meet physical demands including standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds
