
Ares is seeking an Associate, Full Stack Engineer to contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of technology solutions powering the firm’s global credit investment platform.
Reporting to the VP, Credit Engineering Lead, this role will serve as a hands-on software engineer within the Credit Technology Engineering team, responsible for developing applications, APIs, data services, and platform capabilities across the credit investment lifecycle, including deal origination, underwriting, portfolio monitoring, risk management, and investment analytics.
The successful candidate will contribute directly to software development while partnering with senior engineers on technical design, implementation, code quality, testing, and production support.This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building modern enterprise applications.
The ideal candidate will bring experience with full-stack development, Java-based backend services, React front-end development, relational and non-relational databases, APIs, and modern software delivery practices. Financial services, investment management, credit, lending, or alternative asset management technology experience is preferred but not required
This individual will collaborate closely with engineers, Product Management, Investment Technology stakeholders, and business partners to deliver scalable, maintainable, and high-quality technology solutions that support the firm’s growing credit business.

Primary functions&responsibilities
Hands-On Software Engineering
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support software solutions supporting credit investment workflows.
Contribute across front-end, backend, integration, and data-layer development activities.
Build and maintain APIs, services, and user-facing applications supporting investment workflows.
Write clean, maintainable, tested code aligned with established engineering standards.
Participate in code reviews, design reviews, troubleshooting, and production support activities.
Application Development & Delivery
Develop application features and services supporting credit deal management, portfolio management, credit analytics, workflow automation, investment data services, APIs, and reporting platforms.
Support technology solutions for deal sourcing and pipeline management, underwriting workflows, investment committee processes, portfolio monitoring, risk analytics, investment reporting, and investment data management.
Work with the Credit Engineering Lead and senior engineers to understand requirements, break down technical deliverables, estimate work, and execute delivery plans.
Own assigned features and development tasks from implementation through testing and deployment support.
Technical Design & Engineering Practices
Participate in technical design discussions and contribute practical implementation perspectives.
Implement application components aligned with established architecture, design patterns, and engineering standards.
Develop solutions that meet requirements for scalability, performance, resiliency, security, and maintainability.
Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices, code quality, documentation, and operational support.
Cloud, Data & Integration Development
Develop and support applications utilizing cloud-native technologies and containerized application patterns.
Contribute to integrations across investment platforms, reporting platforms, operational systems, and enterprise data environments.
Develop solutions using relational and non-relational database technologies.
Support API development, data delivery, and analytics capabilities in partnership with senior engineers and Data & AI teams.
Software Development Lifecycle
Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
Work within Agile delivery processes and team ceremonies.
Use source control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, development tools, and release processes in accordance with team standards.
Assist with release validation, troubleshooting, production support, and operational documentation.
Team Collaboration
Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, business analysts, and Investment Technology stakeholders.
Communicate progress, risks, blockers, and technical questions clearly and proactively.
Demonstrate strong ownership, accountability, attention to detail, and commitment to delivery.
Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture focused on technical excellence, continuous improvement, and business partnership.
Education:BS in Computer Science orrelated field isrequiredAdvanced degreepreferred.
Experience Required:
•2-4 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building and supporting software applications in enterprise environments.
• Experience participating in software delivery throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• Experience collaborating with engineers, product managers, business analysts, and stakeholders.
• Experience supporting production applications preferred.
•Financial services, lending, credit, investment management, or alternative asset management experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to independently deliver assigned features and technical components.

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$100,000 - $120,000
