Job Description
Under general supervision, performs varied engineering tasks requiring application of established techniques and procedures. Assignments involve responsibility for planning/conducting a complete project, or a portion of a larger project under direction of more experienced staff. Provides technical support related to planning, designing, analyzing, constructing and maintaining structures, electrical systems and/or components. Provides engineering advice, as needed to design and drafting staff.
Tasks may be focused on electrical engineering or mechanical engineering depending on the department’s needs and the needs of the specific projects.
General Project Engineering duties are also expected, such as monitoring material purchases and labor expenditures and comparing to planned project metrics.
Essential Duties
• Performs routine and non-routine engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.
• Ability to lead small projects, ensuring designs, costs, and delivery meets the project requirements.
• Solves a range of straightforward problems, analyzes solutions and assesses each using standard procedures.
• Receives assistance and instructions on unusual or more complex features and possible solutions, as needed.
• Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
• Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
• Builds knowledge of organization processes and customers.
• Works on special projects, as directed.
• Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.
Essential Requirements
• Demonstrated knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria.
• Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
• Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
• Good problem identification and problem resolution skills.
• Good ability to assess quoted project costs, and design accordingly.
Additional Requirements
• Ability to create and/or modify User’s Manuals and general equipment manuals (ie. Installation, Testing,..)
• Basic knowledge of Genie 2000 and NDA2000 software packages and how they relate to the Systems products.
• General knowledge of Gamma and Neutron System measurement techniques.
Education & Experience Requirements
• Technical Degree in a related engineering field.
• Knowledge of Manufacturing equipment and techniques used in fabrication.
