Job Description

We are looking for Engineering Professionals to join the FACTS Solution Line team. The position will be based in Noida, India with remote working flexibility. You will be working on cutting edge technology and varied international high-profile projects. In this position, you will be reporting to Engineering Manager – Secondary Engineering, Noida office and it can be considered a top priority position to perform in a critical engineering discipline for overall FACTS business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The candidate should possess strong hands-on experience in Single line diagram, Protection & Metering SLD, Control and Protection panel designs, Automation Panel design, Interconnection diagrams, Cable schedules, Panel terminal plan drawing, GA Drawing preparation, Hardware List, Bill of Materials, etc. Experience of working in 1 – 2 STATCOM/HVDC project will be preferred.

Control & Protection Hardware Engineering

  • Prepare detailed hardware specification, bill of materials for Substation & STATCOM Projects.

  • Develop control and protection panel designs, GA drawings, schematics, relay list, bay control units, marshalling kiosks, and automation panels.

Prepare & Design

  • Protection single line diagrams

  • Control schematics using EPLAN/E3/EBASE etc.

  • Interconnection diagrams

  • GA drawings

  • Cable schedules

  • Terminal plans

  • Panel layout drawing

  • Bill of Materials (BOM)

  • Rack layout

  • Design AC/DC auxiliary supply distribution schemes

  • Develop I/O allocation and interface engineering for protection relays, RTUs, BCUs, SCADA, STATCOM Controllers, Ethernet Switches etc.

  • Prepare station-wide control and interlocking philosophy implementation.

  • Design reviews with clients/consultants

  • Participate in FAT/SAT activities where required

STATCOM Specific Engineering

Develop hardware engineering for

  • STATCOM Control & Protection systems

  • Valve cooling control interface

  • Transformer protection system

  • Line bay protection

  • MSC/MSR bay protection

  • Harmonic filter protection

  • Coordinate interfaces between Unit Controller, Station Controller, PPC, HMI & Grid Automation system.

  • Prepare communication architecture drawings and interface documentations.

Protection Systems

Knowledge of protection schemes for:

  • Transmission line

  • Power transformer

  • Busbars

  • Reactors

  • Capacitor banks

  • Harmonic filter

  • STATCOM branches

Site commissioning support

  • Pre-commissioning work of Control & Protection systems at site

  • Pre-STATCOM control system

  • Review and apply design stage documents/settings at site.

  • Review site modifications and prepare engineering updates

  • Perform primary and secondary injection testing of protection relays

  • Support energization and performance testing activities.

Standard knowledge

Familiar with:

  • IEC 61850

  • IEC 60255

  • IEC 62271

  • IEC 61000

  • Utility technical specifications

  • Grid code requirements

Engineering Documentation

  • Prepare and review

  • General arrangement drawings, BOM of Control & Protection panels

  • Schematic drawings

  • Relay setting calculation

  • Maintain documentation as per project quality plans

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 4 – 8 years of relevant experience in Substation/FACTS/HVDC Projects.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience specifically in STATCOM/FACTS/HVDC projects

  • Experience in utility scale grid integration and EHV substations preferred.

  • BTech/MTech degree Or Diploma in Electrical Engineering preferably in Power System.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong prioritizing and time management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple project priorities

  • Team-oriented mindset with strong ownership and accountability

  • Effective communication with global teams.

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.

  • Experience of handling global utility/customers’ requirements.
