The Recommendations Associate (Defect Estimator) is responsible for reviewing service-generated defect and repair recommendations, preparing accurate quotations, and supporting the timely close-out of recommended works. The role ensures all estimates, recommendations, and customer communications are compliant, commercially sound, and aligned with relevant fire industry standards and Chubb requirements.
This role plays a key part in supporting customer outcomes, improving quote conversion and close-out timeliness, and contributing to operational efficiency across the ANZ business.
Key Responsibilities
Operational
•
Run reports and utilise relevant software tools, including Field One, to identify handheld-derived recommended repairs and defects requiring estimation.
•
Monitor reporting to ensure quotations are prepared, issued, and closed out in a timely manner, with KPIs achieved.
•
Collate incoming service reports, drawings, and supporting data to enable accurate quotation development.
•
Prepare accurate cost estimates using handheld-derived data and estimating tools.
•
Liaise with technicians and, where required, customers to clarify the scope of works prior to quotation preparation.
•
Prepare quotation letters and distribute completed quotations to customers in line with required timeframes.
•
Update relevant systems, including Field One, to reflect quotation status and progress.
•
Apply relevant contract labour rates and material mark-up rates when preparing estimates.
•
Create and submit NAC requests for Pronto client contact detail updates as required.
•
Establish and maintain working relationships with subcontractors and obtain quotations as needed for services not performed in-house, such as:

Compartmentation

Door repairs

Other specialist works
Customer and Commercial
•
Deliver high-quality, professional written communication to customers and internal stakeholders.
•
Support customer retention and sales outcomes through timely, accurate, and commercially appropriate quotations.
•
Maintain a strong customer and sales focus, with a passion for making a positive difference for customers and the business.
•
Work collaboratively with internal teams to support service delivery and conversion of recommended works.
Technical and Compliance
•
Ensure all recommendations, estimates, and advice provided are in accordance with relevant state and federal regulations, codes, and standards.
•
Read, interpret, and apply relevant fire industry standards and technical documentation.
•
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable Fire Australia industry standards.
•
Continually build technical knowledge and understanding of Chubb’s service and product offerings.
Continuous Improvement
•
Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance quotation accuracy, turnaround times, customer experience, and operational performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Education
•
Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering (or related technical field).
Experience
•
Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Fire Industry
•
Experience in estimation, quotations, service administration, or defect management environments
•
Exposure to field service or operational systems such as Field One and Pronto would be advantageous
•
Understanding of fire protection systems, repairs, and defect rectification processes.
