Job Description

The Engineer will be responsible for the overall planning, organizing, scheduling and controlling the safe, timely, and efficient operation of the Field Engineering section. Responsible for pre-inspect underground structures to verify existing cable arrangement and the applicability of proposed and splicing plans and prepare required manhole sketches. Provide necessary topographical data in connection with the construction of facilities, establishment of line and grades, and sewer connection. Ensure compliance with all applicable Company safety, health, and environmental programs. Comply with Company EEO policies and instructions. Provides technical counsel and guidance in all matters related to construction standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop, prepare and track business plans, goals, master plan, rate case items and budgets.
  • Analyze trends and information and make recommendations from own or others programs to determine overall effectiveness and the need to modify, add, or delete programs.
  • Prepare and revise Company specifications in conformance with PSC, DOT, OSHA and other laws and regulations
  • Provide interpretation of specifications and codes. Supports R&D projects and industry developments associated with gas construction, distribution and maintenance.
  • Provide engineering guidance to field personnel in any area or department and acts as the Company's representative when dealing with external organizations and agencies.
  • Write technical reports and conduct technical presentations to all levels of management.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering and 3 years Engineering Experience

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering

Relevant Work Experience

  • 3-5 years Engineering Experience Required
  • 1-2 years management experience Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments

Licenses and Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Physical Demands

  • Must respond to system emergencies
  • Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
  • Must climb ladders and stairs
  • Must work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Must climb in and out of manholes and excavations
  • Must stand, walk, and climb ladder and stairs for a whole shift
  • Must travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies

Additional Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
