
This is an entry-level position in its classification. Responsible for operating specialty and heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner. Handling the least complex work activities using heavy equipment which may include trucks, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, snow blowers, and specialty equipment used for paving and surfacing asphalt driveways, such as a walk behind concrete saw, single drum rollers, and other pieces of equipment as assigned. Responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and securing all equipment as directed by legislation, policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience No experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge of truck and equipment safety.
• Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.
• Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedures.
• Knowledge of operation of front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, snow blowers and other specialty equipment used for paving and surfacing asphalt driveways, such as a walk behind concrete saw and single drum rollers.
• Ability to operate single axle trucks in a safe and responsible manner.
• Ability to read and write to record pickups and maintain daily records.
• Ability to work independently or as a team member successfully.
Certification
• Ability to obtain IMSA Work Zone Safety or Flagging Certification within 12 months of employment.
• Ability to obtain the Georgia Soil and Erosion Certification IA within 18 months of employment.
Licensing
• Must possess a valid state operator/driver's license for the type vehicle operated with good driving history.
