Job Description

Protection & Control Engineering (SAS & Conventional Projects, 33kV to 765kV)
Responsible for delivering end-to-end Protection and Control engineering solutions for Substation Automation (SAS) and conventional projects ranging from 33kV to 765kV, in alignment with customer specifications and internal standards. Key responsibilities include:
• Providing optimized engineering solutions and executing all Protection & Control applications involving switchyard and generator circuits.
• Initiating technical discussions with customers and securing timely approvals on engineering documentation.
• Delivering high-quality, on-time documentation to support procurement, manufacturing, testing, site erection, and commissioning activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities

  • Analyze project specifications and technical inputs; prepare compliance responses to customer observations and comments.
  • Develop and validate technical designs, engineering calculations, and drawings, ensuring cost-effective and optimized solutions.
  • Select and raise requisitions for IEDs, relays, and Bought-Out Items (BOIs); issue technical specifications to support procurement.
  • Participate in customer technical meetings to secure timely approvals.
  • Release manufacturing instructions and project configurations.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including the testing team, for internal validation and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) as required.
  • Provide technical support at site, resolving issues and addressing snag lists.
  • Prepare as-built documentation post-commissioning.
  • Share and implement Return of Experience (RoE) during the design phase.
  • Manage technical interfaces with sub-suppliers and partners, ensuring data consistency and alignment.

Time schedule & On Time delivery

  • Collaborate with Team Leads and Project Managers to define deliverable timelines and resource commitments.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of high-quality design outputs.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks to delivery schedules.
  • Provide weekly project status updates to Team Leads and/or Project Managers.

Project strategy, risk management, Process & Tools

  • Align with overall project strategy and highlight any scope or design changes for claim or VO consideration.
  • Track and manage project risks and deviations, implementing mitigation plans as needed.
  • Adhere to quality procedures, work instructions, and engineering processes.
  • Deploy appropriate engineering tools as per project strategy.
  • Proactively anticipate delivery issues and recommend corrective actions.

Sourcing, Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Issue technical specifications and documentation to support procurement activities.
  • Coordinate and review supplier technical offers for compliance and suitability.
  • Manage technical interfaces with sub-suppliers and partners, ensuring data consistency and alignment.

Required Qualifications

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech – Electrical & Electronics or Electrical): 2 to 3 years of relevant experience
  • Diploma in Engineering (Electrical & Electronics or Electrical): 4 to 5 years of relevant experience

  • In-depth understanding of Protection IEDs, their functionalities, and application in various protection schemes.

  • Familiarity with protection and control panel design, wiring practices, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in performing protection-related engineering calculations and using relevant design and configuration tools for system design and validation.
