Basic Employee Responsibilities
Every Q2 ALS employee is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner.
*This position is based in person at our Red Deer Location- 7883 Edgar Industrial Way.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
• Leading by example by following established Quality, Health and Safety policies & procedures.
• Showing respect and pride for facilities and equipment.
• Being responsible – on time for work and taking breaks during designated times.
• Carrying out other tasks from time to time as assigned by a supervisor or request for assistance as needed.
Position Specific Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Engineering team in drafting, designing and failure analysis.
• Preparing metallurgical samples and utilizing sophisticated laboratory apparatus ie. XRF, microhardness testers, molding creator and stereomicroscopes.
• Create and develop 3D models and drawings using Inventor or similar 3D modeling software.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, insights, and actionable outcomes.
• Work on new product deliverables and operational deliverables.
• Perform any other duties as assigned to ensure project goals and tasks are completed within established deadlines.
• Research and implement conceptual designs, optimized material and procedures.
• Preparing 3D samples for laboratory flow run testing.
• Strong communications skills is an asset.
• Program chemical inhibitors for specialty tools.
Required Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or technology diploma in Engineering or a related field
• Certified by APEAGA or ASET
• Strong knowledge of design principles and manufacturing processes
• Proficiency in CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
• Power BI experience is an asset.
• Experience with materials selection, metallurgy, and failure analysis
• Able to work in a small team in a fast paced environment
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
Physical Demands
• Primarily office-based with lab exposure
• Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer
• Occasional lifting and interaction with components or equipment
• Use of handheld measuring tools and small metal components (Caliper, micrometer, height gages, etc.)
