About the role

At Orica, it’s the power of our people that leads change and shapes our future. We’re looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to support our ISPE site operations in Gomia and help drive world‑class automation, system reliability, and process excellence.

This is a critical engineering role responsible for maintaining, improving, and developing automation systems across the Gomia site. You will partner closely with Operations and Projects teams to deliver reliable PLC/SCADA systems, resolve repetitive OT issues, and implement smarter, safer, and more efficient automated processes.

What you will be doing

  • Lead and deliver automation and software development aligned with Orica standards.
  • Troubleshoot recurring Operational Technology (OT) issues and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Manage critical OT spares, vendor engagement, and inventory control.
  • Program, maintain, and upgrade SCADA and PLC systems across the site.
  • Support project teams with OT engineering expertise.
  • Perform calibration based on process requirements and maintain critical control systems.
  • Design, test, and enhance automation equipment and workflows.
  • Explore innovative automation solutions to improve system performance and reliability.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in industrial automation.
  • Strong proficiency in PLC/SCADA programming, troubleshooting, and system testing.
  • Solid understanding of software development for industrial control systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and leadership skills.
  • Curiosity and a passion for learning emerging technologies.
  • Preferably experience in chemical/explosives manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity within OT environments is an advantage.
