Job Description

[What the role is]

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore's raison d'etre is to develop the air hub and aviation industry in Singapore, expanding Singapore's links to the rest of the world. We enable opportunities through aviation, making connections, opening doors and enabling choices in people's lives.

You will be part of the team supporting project delivery and maintenance of our 24/7 mission-critical communications systems. This role is open to candidates at the start of their career and provides on-the-job training and mentorship. You will learn to help deliver and maintain communications systems in compliance with relevant international standards (e.g., ICAO and ITU) and established best practices, and support enhancements to both software and hardware components of existing communications systems under guidance from senior engineers.

You will work closely with a range of stakeholders, including operational users, in-house development teams, equipment suppliers and contractors. You will support coordination with external parties from Singapore Public Service agencies and international counterparts where required and will escalate issues appropriately.

[What you will be working on]

  • Support operations and maintenance of 24/7 mission-critical communications systems (including supported after-hours support on a rostered basis, where applicable)

  • Assist in investigation, troubleshooting and problem resolution of technical issues, working with senior engineers to identify root causes

  • Support enhancements to software and hardware components of existing communications systems (e.g., configuration, testing, deployment and post-implementation support)

  • Support vendor and contractor coordination for maintenance activities and system enhancements (e.g., scheduling, tracking actions, documentation)

  • Research emerging technologies and prepare summaries to support assessments for use in existing or new communications systems

  • Support participation in relevant ICAO/ITU-related activities (e.g., preparing materials, tracking actions and coordinating follow-ups) as assigned

[What we are looking for]

  • Basic understanding of systems and networking concepts; interest in cybersecurity is a plus

  • Trained in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related discipline

  • Candidates with limited or no prior full-time work experience are welcome to apply; strong fundamentals and willingness to learn are key

  • Keen interest in radiocommunication technologies and relevant standards/regulations; willingness to learn and pick up domain knowledge

  • Self-motivated team player who is coachable and able to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to produce clear documentation; presentation skills are a plus

  • Ability to organise and prioritise tasks; comfortable working in a structured, safety- and quality-focused environment
