Your Job

Molex is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer / Technical Lead to join our Multiphysics Simulation Group in Bengaluru. In this role, you will combine deep structural FEA expertise with surrogate modeling to help transform complex simulation data into fast, reliable predictions that support product-design decisions. You will lead structural simulation programs, develop and validate surrogate models, and help advance Virtual Product Qualification through credible physics-based prediction.

Our Team

You will join the Multiphysics Simulation Group within Global Engineering Services and Predictive Engineering at Molex’s Global Technical Center in Bengaluru. The team is advancing simulation, digital twins, and AI-assisted surrogate models to reduce prototype-heavy development cycles and enable faster engineering decisions.

What You Will Do

  • Lead structural FEA programs involving quasi-static loading, impact and drop testing, pressure-induced deformation, vibration, fatigue, and creep.
  • Develop and validate surrogate models that predict stress, strain, displacement, and deformation from FEA training data, reducing dependence on full simulation runs during design iteration.
  • Apply approaches including regression, response-surface methods, design of experiments, neural networks, and Bayesian correction techniques where appropriate.
  • Establish confidence in simulation and surrogate predictions through convergence studies, sensitivity analysis, error quantification, cross-validation, and correlation with physical test data.
  • Define the design-space boundaries and limitations within which surrogate models can be reliably used.
  • Partner with product engineering teams across Molex businesses to translate simulation insights into product-design decisions.
  • Mentor engineers and strengthen structural simulation methods, review practices, and technical standards across the team.
  • Contribute validated structural prediction models to broader multiphysics and digital-twin architectures, supporting progress toward Virtual Product Qualification.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, Computational Mechanics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated structural simulation experience with strong knowledge of solid mechanics, finite-element methods, nonlinear analysis, and contact mechanics.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one commercial FEA solver such as Ansys Mechanical, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, Nastran, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience personally building and validating surrogate or reduced-order models from simulation data to predict structural responses.
  • Programming experience using Python or MATLAB for model development or automation, with experience using regression, response-surface, Gaussian-process, or neural-network modeling approaches.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with commercial surrogate or AI simulation platforms such as Physics AI, DEP MeshWorks, Ansys SimAI, Altair HyperStudy, Siemens HEEDS, Rescale, or Isight.
  • Experience with Bayesian methods, uncertainty quantification, Physics-Informed Neural Networks, or physics-constrained machine learning.
  • Experience with impact, drop-test, or crash simulation in high-reliability product applications.
  • Understanding of digital-twin architectures and integration of surrogate models into multiphysics environments.
  • Experience with coupled thermo-structural or electro-thermal-structural simulation.
