Job Description

What you’ll do:

Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC) - Aeropace FMC Hydraulics - Valves Business has an 'Engineer' open position. The incumbent in this position is responsible for the successful execution of a wide range of Aerospace Hydraulics projects, including New Product Introduction, VAVE, B&P, and Sustaining Engineering, while driving continuous improvement to meet project KPIs (Focus 5, NPI Efficacy), and ensure stakeholder and customer satisfaction.


He/She should have experience in New Product Development (NPD), Sustaining, VAVE, and Application engineering programs preferably in the Aerospace industry. Working knowledge of overall design engineering processes encompassing "Design - Qualification - Product Launch" of 'Aerospace and/or Industrial Hydraulics Products' is required. The products should be broadly classified under Hydro-Mechanical & Electro-Mechanical products viz. Valves, Controls, Reservoirs, Filter modules, Actuators, and Pump products. He/She should have proficiency in managing customer requirements, concept design/selection, detail design and analysis & design validation - product testing and qualification to enable decision making while executing the engineering work. He/she should have proficiency in mechanical design & drafting (CAD tools), GD&T & statistical tolerancing. He/She should have proficiency in preparing and managing schedules, NRE (Non recurring engineering estimates), risk management; good communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written with an ability to make necessary status reports and technical presentations to Eaton management and global stakeholders. Design for Six Sigma know-how and DFSS GB certification is preferred.

The candidate in this position is responsible to/has -
• Drive and execute New Product Design and Development through Eaton PROLaunch / PreLaunch/ACES Engineering processes
• Create Product Concepts & Architecture ideas and demonstrate, expertise at STEM - Science Technology Engineering Mathematics basics for demonstrating the feasibility of designs through relevant Engineering calculations/predictions
• Proficiency with CAD, Analytical Tools (CATIA, CREO, AutoCAD, MathCAD, Matlab/Simulink, CfX, ADL, etc.), Limits, Fits & Tolerancing, GD&T
• Execute technical, schedule, cost, and quality commitments for every deliverable as per project scope. An additional responsibility of managing the project/program financials as appropriate.
• Execute IPT leadership across the Project(s) - NPD (Runner, Minor repeater risk classification category), Sustaining, VAVE, Quality Transformation (Ezdp). Seek team input to promote a rapid resolution to issues.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate/ Post Graduate bachelor’s in engineering (Mechanical, Hydro-Mechanical & Electro-Mechanical Domain)
  • Master's degree: 1-2 years or Bachelor's degree: 3-5 years experience, Min 2 years of Product Engineering for Hydraulics, Hydro-Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical design, development and validation
  • Project Engineering, processes and tools, DFSS, Analytical Thinking,Electro-Hydro-Mechanical simulations, Aerospace Products
  • Drive for Results, Analysis-First Mindset, Organizational Savvy, Strong Communications and Influencing skills

Skills:

• Support the project teams in areas of customer concerns, potential changes in scope, and risk assessment.
• Manage effective customer communications. Improve organization responsiveness to customer requirements. Communication & managing customer expectations and contractual commitments internal to the business.
• Ensure standard program management processes are utilized and adequate support to the project team by coordinating PM reviews, and preparing & publishing PM metrics and reports.
• Provide monthly project updates (Project Status Report – Green/Yellow/Red) of the current situation relating to milestones and problem/high-risk areas (e.g., technical, cost, and schedule). Provide updates to the business units as well as divisional, and group levels.
• Play a key/support role in developing business proposals and executing the overall program plan. Handle RFI/RFP/RFQ process by providing engineering inputs to customer inquiries, creating solutions and estimating materials, testing costs, and Engineering NRE
• Support the creation of the integrated project plans & schedules, project budget in partnership with the team and the organization. Manage, forecast, collect cost, and report on project budget/schedule
• Know-how of Digital tools and capabilities including but not limited to - Python Programming, Advance Excel, PowerBI, VB and/or similar equivalent etc.
• Apply Robust design methodologies for decision making - DFSS, LEAN, DMAIC
• Know-how of Aerospace Product Testing and Qualification - DO160 and failure investigation, FRACA (RCA, FTA, 8D)
• Demonstrate leadership in a professional society and/or published technical work through professional or trade media.
