Job Description

The Engineer is responsible for monitoring, operation, and first‑response maintenance of critical building systems in a highly regulated, mission‑critical environment. This role ensures uninterrupted operation of facilities by monitoring alarms, performing routine inspections, responding to system faults, and escalating issues as needed to maintain safety, compliance, and reliability.

Pay: $51.73 per hour.

  • Monitor building automation systems (BAS), alarms, and control systems for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems
  • Perform scheduled rounds and inspections of mechanical, electrical, and life‑safety equipment
  • Identify abnormal system conditions and respond promptly to alarms or alerts
  • Perform minor corrective maintenance, adjustments, and troubleshooting of facility systems
  • Respond to emergencies, equipment failures, and after-hours service calls
  • Coordinate with on-site technicians, engineers, and external contractors for escalated repairs
  • Ensure proper handoff and communication between shifts
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and records of system status, events, and work performed
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Support audit readiness by ensuring documentation is complete and accurate
  • Adhere to cGMP, safety, and environmental standards where applicable
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and other safety protocols
  • Identify and report safety hazards, equipment risks, or compliance concerns
  • Support emergency response procedures, including power outages, environmental excursions, and system failures
  • Serve as a point of contact for facility issues during assigned watch shifts
  • Communicate system status, risks, and incidents clearly to supervisors and client stakeholders
  • Support operational continuity by coordinating effectively with engineering, maintenance, and management teams

Required Qualifications Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in facility operations, building engineering, or critical environment support
  • Experience in 24/7 or shift‑based operations strongly preferred

Technical Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, and life‑safety systems
  • Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and alarm monitoring
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting practices
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, SOPs, and schematics

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong situational awareness and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive during emergency situations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to compliance and safety
  • Ability to work independently during overnight or weekend shifts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting regulated environments such as biotech, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or data center facilities
  • Prior exposure to GMP or cleanroom-supported facilities
  • EPA Universal Certification, HVAC certification, or equivalent technical credentials
  • Experience working in outsourced facilities services or client‑facing environments

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to walk, stand, climb ladders, and access mechanical spaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and controlled environments
