  • Engineer – Audits & Compliance (Dairy & Food)
  • Hamilton, Waikato | Full Time | Hybrid Working

We’re looking for a detail-focused and analytical Engineer to join our growing team in Hamilton. This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll deliver high-quality audits, inspections, and evaluations across dairy and non-dairy operations.

You’ll play a key role in verifying compliance with MPI regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements — providing accurate reporting and trusted technical expertise.

About the role

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct audits and heat treatment inspections to ensure compliance with MPI Acts, Regulations, Standards, and importing country requirements
  • Evaluate operator premises and heat treatments under MPI Recognised Person approvals
  • Complete accurate audit reports and follow up on non-conformances
  • Maintain and develop technical expertise through training, skill checks, and industry forums
  • Build strong relationships with customers, regulators, and internal teams
  • Support project planning, client management, and contract reviews
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and uphold health & safety standards
  • Manage time and expense records and support special projects as requiredp

Qualifications

About you

You’re a confident and analytical professional who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively. You bring strong technical knowledge and a high level of attention to detail.

You will also have:

  • Experience in dairy, food processing, or manufacturing environments
  • 5+ years of relevant industry or auditing experience
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and quality systems (Advanced HACCP awareness desirable)
  • Excellent written communication and data analysis skills (advanced Excel skills essential)
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (BE, BTech), Dairy Diploma, or MSc in Dairy Science (advantageous)
  • The ability to interpret complex technical and regulatory information with confidence
