Job Identification

We are looking for an Envoronmental Engineer to be a part of our Supply Chain team located in Astana.

What We Expect

  • Conduct inventory of all types and sources of waste generated at the plant, and monitor emissions of harmful substances into the environment.
  • Explore cost-saving opportunities through proper waste management, separation, sorting, processing, and disposal.
  • Maintain relationships with city and regional environmental departments and the municipal water utility.
  • Report to statistical authorities and other environmental organizations.
  • Provide input data for business planning to ensure environmental aspects are integrated into the process.
  • Assist company staff in conducting Environmental Management System audits.
  • Maintain and regularly update documentation containing local environmental management requirements.
  • Keep records confirming compliance with local environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain and update documentation on company environmental requirements; promote awareness among staff of the importance of environmental policy and organize training to increase responsibility.
  • Develop and implement material reuse programs to minimize emissions.
  • Support continuous improvement programs aimed at reducing environmental impact (water and energy consumption, waste generation, chemical disposal).
  • Collect data on water and energy consumption, solid waste generation; collaborate with crisis management teams on environmental issues.
  • Regularly report on the performance of the Environmental Management System for review and improvement by company leadership.
  • Conduct inspections of environmental program elements according to the approved schedule; discuss findings with department heads and assist in implementing recommendations.
  • Provide support and documentation during government inspections at the plant; participate in developing and tracking corrective actions.
  • Organize, maintain, and ensure availability of all required environmental documentation in full compliance with Kazakhstan legislation and company standards.
  • Prepare and distribute information and advise staff on environmental protection issues.
  • Ensure work quality and compliance with environmental laws, policies, and procedures of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
  • Communicate to all employees the importance of knowing and following environmental requirements, and the consequences of non‑compliance.
  • Conduct environmental training sessions for company staff.Review management decisions related to environmental activities.
  • Participate in developing projects to reduce all types of wastes and sources of waste and harmful emissions at the plant.
  • Participate in teleconferences, video meetings, and presentations on environmental topics organized by CCI and TCCC Coordinators (Operational Unit).
  • Participate in the company’s annual asset inventory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental science, or another relevant technical field.
  • Preferably at least 1 year of experience in environmental management or a related field.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of occupational safety, health, industrial sanitation, fire protection, and environmental protection.
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan related to environmental activities.
  • Familiarity with standards, methodologies, and instructions for developing and documenting technical reports based on completed work.
  • Strong coordination and planning skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • English — upper‑intermediate.
