DOTD is seeking an Engineer 3-5 to support transportation projects and programs. This position supports the development, delivery, maintenance, or improvement of transportation infrastructure by applying engineering principles, conducting technical analysis, coordinating projects, and conducting compliance-related reviews.
No prior engineering experience is required — training is provided, with opportunities for career progression and advancement through the Engineering job series.
Positions are located SULPHUR, and reports to Project Engineer.
This vacancy is being advertised under two separate postings: Engineer Intern Applicant -Engineer Intern 2 and Engineer 3–5.
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering.
NOTE:

Depending on level and assignment, Engineer 3 -Engineer 5 may:
Career Progression: This position is part of a Career Progression Group and may be filled as an Engineer 3, Engineer 4, or Engineer 5.
Compensation: The following reflects the beginning biweekly salary for each level. A Special Entrance Rate (SER) may apply to qualifying positions.
Additional compensation may be considered impart with extraordinary qualifications in accordance with State Civil Service Rules and DOTD policy.
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency-wide permanent status employees); Job Appointment (temporary appointment in a classified position for a limit of four years); or by detail to special duty.
