The engineer-distribution provides engineering services for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of MidAmerican's distribution system. Responsibilities include applying prescribed methods and standard practices in performing specific tasks within projects and assisting other engineering staff on more complex projects. Project assignments may include planning, designing, materials procurement, project management and project accounting (budgeting, estimating, forecasting). Position also assists with engineering studies and investigations and in preparation of oral and written reports.
Provide engineering services for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of MidAmerican's distribution system. Responsibilities may include system planning, design specifications, maps and drawings, materials procurement, contract preparation, project management and project accounting (budgeting, estimating, forecasting). (70%)
Provide technical assistance with engineering studies and investigations and preparation of oral and written reports. (20%)
Provide engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (10%)
Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques. Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operation of the electric transmission and distribution system.
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution for the Engineer 1 position.
1-3 years of engineering experience for the Engineer 2 position.
5+ years of industry experience as a practicing engineer, and must be a licensed PE. If no PE license, then must have 8 or more years as a practicing engineer for the Sr Engineer position
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
