Job Description


  • The Engine Validation Engineer is responsible for building and executing the engine validation plan for a major vehicle program.

    Responsibilities include but not limited to:


    • Carry out Bill of Materials (BOM) management, releasing the BOM into BOM management system.


    • Coordinate build schedule to meet Customer (Testing & Vehicle Builds / Others). Lead / support actual engine build in EBU and preparation in METS.


    • Support Dyno Testing.


    • Successfully build and deliver Engine Assemblies to dyno cells for design verification (DV) testing and Mule level vehicle builds. Product Launches noted in section(iv) below.


    • Lead the Maintenance, Development, and Improvement of Test Procedures, Design Validation Plans, (“DV”) and Process Validation plans (“PV”) for Internal Combustion Engines.


    • Provide technical expertise in investigation of validation issues, root cause analysis, mitigation, and corrective action plans.


    • Conduct tests, recreate failure modes identified during validation testing, or warranty claims.


    • Create Incident Reports for each issue to ensure engineering team drives issues to closure.


    • After testing, organize the post test analysis and teardown activity along with the project team to identify any issues or concerns.


    • Review reports with the Chief Engineer and file them in PDS.


Requirements


  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering


  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field


  • Understanding of automotive processes such as DFMEA and DVP&R


  • Preferred Requirements

    :


    • Advanced degree in with emphasis in engine development, control systems, or calibration.


    • Understanding of CAN communication


    • Working experience in creation and execution of validation plans for engine components.


    • 5 years or more in design, development and / or validation of engines


    • Experience with engine teardowns and rebuilds
