• This role is responsible for providing direct leadership to a team of individual contributors engaged in designing and developing engineering solution. The role manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, and ensures effective resource allocation and alignment with program and organizational roadmaps. The role provides guidance on process improvements and recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy for area of responsibility. The role identifies cost reduction opportunities, drives research and development of new technologies, and utilizes expertise in the industry to address common and complex business and technical challenges within established policies.

Responsibilities
• Provides direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing engineering solutions and coordinating projects for mechanical hardware, system & imaging development for A4 LaserJet products.
• Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
• Expert in R&D Product Life Cycle development in Print and works with key stakeholders to secure commitments for the necessary resources to complete the planned activities in NPI programs and conduct the required reviews to ensure deliverables success.
• Communicates project status and escalates issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.
• Manages relationships with outsourced partners, suppliers and Canon Japan as strategic partner, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs; ensures that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with outsourced resources.
• Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions opportunities to support NPI cost structure.
• Spearheads research and development of new technologies and ensures that newly created processes, designs, and/or methodologies are incorporated within applied materials, as appropriate.
• Applies engineering knowledge of the industry to manage staff activities in solving common and complex business/technical issues within established policies, and how own area contributes to the achievement of objectives.
• Provides people-care management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development.

Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Hardware Engineering, Colour Science, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 8-10 years of hardware design/color science development experience and 3-5 years of management experience across Print hardware development lifecycle.
