We are an Engineering and Product Development Center that designs, develops, and produces new technologies, products, and services for a more sustainable society.

We work by bridging cities, industry, and universities around major programs of product and service development and industrialization, based in Portugal, in high-tech sectors such as Mobility, Aeronautics, and Space.

We’re looking for a Engenheiro | Geospatial Analyst (m/f/d) with solid software engineering skills to join our Digital team in the Space unit.

CEiiA is looking for an Earth Observation Geospatial Analyst to support the development and operation of satellite data products and geospatial services within the Space Digital business unit.

This is an entry-level position suited for recent graduates or junior professionals with a background in geospatial engineering, remote sensing, geography, environmental engineering, or similar fields, who are interested in working with satellite imagery, geospatial data, and AI-based Earth Observation products.

The role is focused on operational and analytical activities supporting Earth Observation product development, AI model training and validation, and satellite data acquisition planning.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Running satellite image processing chains and workflows, including performing required manual steps such as control point selection and quality control;
  • Performing annotation and labeling of satellite imagery to generate datasets for AI and machine learning model training;
  • Running AI models on satellite imagery and performing manual validation and quality assessment of outputs;
  • Supporting the planning and acquisition of satellite data according to product and project requirements (e.g., tasking, archive selection, acquisition planning);
  • Supporting the generation and delivery of Earth Observation products;
  • Assisting in project and product reporting tasks when required;
  • Supporting geospatial platforms and internal tools used for Earth Observation data processing and visualization;
  • Working closely with AI engineers, software developers, and project managers to support product development and operational activities;
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of processing workflows, annotation procedures, and validation methodologies.

This role provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of satellite data, geospatial analysis, and artificial intelligence, and to grow into more advanced technical roles over time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Engineering, Remote Sensing, Geography, Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, or related field;
  • Master’s degree is a plus but not required;
  • Basic knowledge of GIS and remote sensing concepts;
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., QGIS);
  • Basic knowledge of satellite imagery (optical and/or SAR is a plus);
  • Basic knowledge of Python is a plus;
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats (e.g., GeoTIFF, Shapefile, GeoJSON);
  • Understanding of coordinate systems and projections is a plus;
  • Interest in Earth Observation and satellite data applications;
  • Interest in AI/ML applied to geospatial data is a plus;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Strong sense of responsibility and reliability;
  • Ability to follow procedures and workflows;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Working knowledge of English (Fluency is a plus).

Valued additional skills:

  • Experience with image annotation tools;
  • Experience with satellite data sources (e.g., Sentinel, Landsat, commercial imagery);
  • Experience in quality control and validation of geospatial data;
  • Experience with SAR data is a plus;
  • Experience working in geospatial or engineering projects.
