The opportunity

We have an exciting ongoing opportunity for an Engagement Lead to join the EPA’s Engagement and Product Stewardship team within the Engagement, Digital and Innovation Division.

The role is responsible for overseeing a supportive and results driven team to lead initiatives to build relationships that ensure NSW communities and stakeholders are engaged and informed on the EPA’s work and opportunities. This includes representing the EPA by directly engaging with key stakeholders to ensure collaboration on the environmental challenges that we face.

About you

You are an experienced engagement professional with a strong track record of building trusted relationships with stakeholders and delivering strategic engagement initiatives. You bring excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse stakeholder groups and translate complex issues into clear, meaningful engagement opportunities.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience leading stakeholder engagement initiatives and building strong relationships with industry, local government and community stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage directly with senior stakeholders and represent the EPA.
  • Experience designing and delivering education and/or engagement initiatives in collaboration with internal and external subject matter experts.
  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to identify stakeholder needs, emerging issues and risks, and develop practical responses.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to support and motivate a high-performing, results-driven team.
  • Strong planning, organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes.
  • Experience monitoring and reporting on stakeholder issues and engagement outcomes, with sound judgement and a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Sound financial management skills and experience managing budgets within delegations.

Essential Requirements

  • A current Australian Driver’s licence

About the team

Engagement and Product Stewardship team lead the EPA’s approach to community and stakeholder engagement, build strong partnerships to translate regulation into practical support and deliver effective product stewardship schemes and systems.
