Seeking Engagement Class Instructor
The Staenberg-Loup JCC Engagement Department is seeking an Early Childhood Engagement Instructor who will support in our Practice Preschool Program.
Practice Preschool is a first classroom experience that prepares toddlers (18 months to 3 years) and their caregivers for the big transition to Preschool. This role would be a co-teacher in the Practice Preschool room.
In general, classes are long-term explorations giving students an opportunity to both learn and develop skills within multiple areas. Engagement classes run in 8-week, or 6-week increments, or occasional monthly based workshop programs.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and teach engaging courses and/or workshops tailored to toddlers, preschoolers and youth.
- Prepare curriculum, materials, and demonstrations aligned with program goals and developing the curriculum in collaboration with the Family Program Manager.
- Provide individualized feedback and guidance to students.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom or studio environment.
- Manage attendance, supply usage, and other administrative duties as required.
- Uphold JCC Denver’s mission and values.
Other Duties/Responsibilities Required
- Occasionally serve as a substitute instructor for family engagement programs such as Baby and Toddler Art, Baby Supply Closet, Baby Café, Abbas and Babbas, Move and Learn classes.
- Serve as an ambassador of the JCC Denver at community partner events.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Experience teaching preschool aged students is required
- Experience instructing toddlers through preschool aged children.
- Candidates with early childhood education degrees or k-12 art and/or candidates with a teaching license or teaching license in progress are strongly preferred.
- A thorough understanding of teaching preschool aged students, including successful lesson implementation from introduction through closing, scaffolding for mixed ages, etc.
- Excellent classroom management skills and techniques focused on community building and relationship building.
- Genuine enjoyment and enthusiasm about working with children.
- Excellent people skills and enjoyment for being around people.
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and with a positive work ethic.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with your colleagues and teammates
- Additionally, understanding our philosophy and values, understanding child development phases, and maintaining patience, calm, and a positive work ethic is of the utmost importance.
The successful candidate will: have stamina, be responsible and creative; have a positive attitude and work ethic; be a team player; understand child development stages and the specific needs of children; maintain a high level of professionalism; be successful at identifying and relating to the feelings and perspectives of others; have awareness of and attentiveness to individual needs of children and their caregivers.

These additional qualifications are preferred and will make candidates more competitive, but these are not required for the effective execution of the job responsibilities.
Experience with community engagement, intergenerational engagement, LGBTQIA+ engagement, and a working knowledge of the Jewish Community and its constituents.
Physical/Mental Requirements (ADA Compliance)

- While performing duties, the candidate is often required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Candidate will occasioanlly lift and or/move up to fifty (50) pounds.
