Applications are invited for a Research Support Tech in the Language and Comparative Cognition Group (http://lcc.upf.edu/), led by Juan Manuel Toro), at the Center for Brain and Cogntion, https://www.upf.edu/web/cbc, Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). The candidate will form part of the project ProRythm Domain-general benefits for prosody: Linking linguistic and musical rhythm Grant PID2024-155541NB-I00 funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by “ERDF A way of making Europe”. The position is for 12 months.

The ProRythm project:

Two main questions guide our work:

. What kind of experience is necessary for the emergence of any prosodic and harmonic biases?

. Do similar principles emerge in artificial learners?

Funció a desenvolupar/ Tasks to be performed:

The research assistant will join a multidisciplinary team, and carry out the following tasks:

Tasks:

• Run harmonic prediction experiments with neural networks (Objective 3 in the original project).
• Select and prepare target databases to train the models (Objective 3 in the original project).
• Create and train computational models that can be trained with musical stimuli (Objective 3 in the original project).
• Analyze data and write manuscripts reporting the work (Objective 3 in the original project)..

The duration is 12 months.

Dedicació i jornada/ Dedication and working hours: Temps parcial (17,5.h/setmana)/ (17,5h/week)

Retribució prevista aproximada/ Planned remuneration approx: 17.481,56 € brut per any/ 17.481,56 € gross per year (17.5 hours/week)

Qualifications

Requisits/ Requirements:

• Batxillerat-FP2/ High school-FP2.

La data prevista d'inici és l’1 novembre de 2026 , la feina és a Barcelona./ The expected start date is 1 november 2026, the job is in Barcelona.

Criteris de selecció/ Selection criteria: La selecció dels candidats es farà mitjançant valoració del currículum i, si escau, amb la realització d’una prova i/o entrevista. La valoració serà la següent:/ The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and/or interview. Valuation will be as follows:

La puntuació mínima per passar el procés de selecció és de 70 punts. La persona candidata que hagi obtingut la puntuació més alta en el procés de selecció serà l’adjudicatària del lloc de treball./ The minimum score to pass the selection process is 70 points. The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job.

• Formació Acadèmica/ Academic Training (0-40 punts/ points).

○ Grau en Enginyeria./ Undergraduate background inEngineering.

○ Màster en neurociència cognitiva o similar./ Master in Cognitive Neuroscience or similar.

• Altra formació i experiència professional, adequació al perfil proposat/ Other professional training and experience, adequacy to the proposed profile (0-40 punts/ points):

○ Experiència demostrable entrenant i testejant neural networks./ Demonstrable experience training and testing neural networks.

○ Bones habilitats angleses, tant escrites com parlades./ Good English skills, both written and spoken.

○ Experiència demostrable en un laboratori de neurociència cognitiva./ Demonstrable experience in a cognitive neuroscience laboratory.

• Altres mèrits/ Other merits (0-20 punts/ points):

○ Coneixement de teoría musical./ Knowledge of musical theory.

○ Experiència amb IDyOM i models similars./ Experience with IDyOM and similar models.

○ Habilitats comunicatives (es requereix anglès, es valorarà el castellà)./ Communication skills (English is required, Spanish would be valued).

○ Experiència demostrable en cognició musical./ Demostrable experience with musical cognition..
